Visiting Disney World from Emerald Island Resort
A stay at Emerald Island Resort in Kissimmee gives your family a vacation-home base for exploring Walt Disney World. Planning the journey is about more than the distance to Disney: each park has a different arrival route, and parking and entry take time after the drive.
Plan for your specific Disney park
Use the full name of your destination when checking directions: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A route to the Walt Disney World resort boundary does not tell you when you will reach the rides. Check live traffic before leaving your rental and allow time to gather your group, park, and pass through entry checks.
Magic Kingdom deserves particular attention. Disney’s parking guidance explains that parking-lot trams take guests to the Transportation and Ticket Center, rather than directly to the park entrance. Review the onward transport arrangements before your visit. For the other three parks, follow the signs for the correct parking area and pedestrian or tram route.
Parking and transport: what to check
Disney charges for standard theme-park parking, with separate preferred-parking options. Check Disney’s official parking information for current charges, accessibility arrangements, and electric-vehicle charging. Do not assume that benefits offered to guests of Disney-owned hotels apply to an Emerald Island rental.
If your group is using more than one car, agree on a meeting point inside the park rather than trying to follow each other through traffic. Save the parking location on your phone before walking away. For rideshare journeys, confirm the designated drop-off and pickup points with the operator and allow for demand after evening entertainment.
A practical family park-day plan
- The night before: confirm tickets, opening information, your route, and the items your group wants to bring.
- Before departure: have breakfast at your vacation home, charge phones, and agree on a return plan.
- During the day: leave room for meals and rest rather than trying to fit every attraction into one visit.
- For a midday break: count the complete journey back to the rental and into the park again before deciding whether it fits your day.
Choose a home that suits your Disney trip
Compare sleeping arrangements, bathroom numbers, and living space before booking. A private pool or games room can be useful on non-park days, but these features vary by property. Read each listing and ask about any optional pool-heating charge.
